Donegal Local Development Company Ltd is a Pobal funded Local Development Partnership Company that delivers eleven different Irish Government and EU funded programmes within Co. Donegal. Donegal Local Development Company Ltd (DLDC) was incorporated in 1995n and is a local development company that exists to address the social, economic and cultural development needs of its Donegal catchment area, working in Donegal towards a better future for all. Working in Partnership with several agencies and funders including Pobal, FAS, DSFA, TEAGASC, the VEC, the NWHB as well as the community and voluntary sector, DLDC has developed many unique initiatives to help address the needs of the people in its catchment area. Over 30 experienced professionals in DLDC work with individuals, community representatives, statutory agencies and social partners on a daily basis to develop and promote an inclusive society for all our citizens. Pobal's mission is to promote social inclusion, reconciliation and equality through integrated social and economic development within communities. Pobal is a not-for-profit company with charitable status that manages programmes on behalf of the Irish Government and The EU. Pobal support partnership approaches to decision-making in order to engage communities in the development process at local level, and to promote co-ordination between communities, State agencies and other stakeholders. The Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs
The Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, one of the newest Departments of State, was established by Government in June 2002, with some 240 staff in 6 locations, mainly in Dublin and Na Forbacha, Co Galway. The Department has specific responsibility for a range of functions including: community development programmes; local development; the RAPID programmes for revitalising rural areas; co-ordination of the National Drugs Strategy; Volunteering; Rural Development Initiatives including CLAR, LEADER, INTERREG and a number of measures under the EU Programme for Peace and Reconcilliation.The Department also retains the responsibilities previously held by the former Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht, the development of Ireland's inhabited off-shore Islands. The State Boards and agencies discharge specific responsibilities in the community, rural, Gaeltacht and islands sectors under the aegis of the Department.
