Training Supports

During February and March 2007 ME4U provided training to 8 different groups through the Derry based organisation, North West Volunteer. The training was held in Letterkenny and covered: Planning Volunteer Involvement; Attracting Volunteers; Selecting Volunteers; Managing Volunteers; Motivating Volunteers. The training was very well received by all who attended and took participants through the challenges that volunteering in modern society brings as well as offering manageable and practical solutions to these challenges.

This training will serve as the model for future training with groups which, it is hoped, will be delivered to groups in accessible areas and venues at times that suit the groups.

To help us deliver this training, DLDC has commissioned a training package that will include a DVD capturing the experiences of a number of volunteers throughout Donegal. This will reflect the enjoyment people get out of volunteering, the benefits individuals and communities gain from the volunteers as well as identifying some of the problems volunteers experience.
